McCain Could Do No Other

John McCain has a love of country that is in the core of his being in the same way that his love of God resides there.  Because of this love, he cannot do something that he believes will hurt his country.   He could not publicly attack the target rich environment of Congressional Democrats, who have been permanently stained with blame for the current financial crisis, while critical negotiations were in progress. Such attacks might derail or delay action to save the economy. It was not a selfish political choice or calculation. Rather, it was the only thing his love of country could allow him to do. Time and again he has shown throughout his life that he can be trusted to do what he believes is the right thing. This is why McCain did not attack Obama and the Democrats during the recent debate for their legislative and oversight failures. It was not that he debated ineffectively. He simply could do no other than to put his country first.

Rezko May have Flipped for Fitzgerald and the Feds

How sad it is that the Democrats teathered themselves to Patrick Fitzgerald when he was investigating the Valerie Plame controversy. The results fell far short of the Dems desired result, but many stellar opinions of Fitzgerald were advanced with soaring Democrat rhetoric. I hope that many good videos of the Dems have been saved for the coming days, as Tony Rezko may now be singing in order to reduce his time as a tenant of the Federal Penal system.

A news article in the The Chicago Tribune today says,         ( http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-rezko-flip28sep28,0,5691387.story ) "Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, a convicted influence peddler who was once one of Gov. Rod Blagojevich's most trusted confidants, has met with federal prosecutors and is considering cooperating in the corruption probe of the governor's administration, sources told the Tribune."  The article indicates that Rezko may already be talking and that prosecutors seem to be probing other Chicago corruption witnesses and targets through inside information that seems to be of a nature that only Rezko could know.

The Tribune article also said, "Rezko was a political supporter of Obama going back to when he was running for state Senate. Obama's ties to Rezko have become a political albatross for the presidential nominee, who has been forced to defend the convicted felon's fundraising activities for him and revelations Obama bought his South Side mansion on the same day in 2005 that Rezko purchased a vacant lot next door."  A talking Tony Rezko is bad news for Obama, whose favorite dodge for unseemly associations is that they happened long, long ago, and far, far away.  With the possibility of the Rezko story newly appearing above the fold in major newspapers, that dodge won't work and the middle class and others will have the information newly pressed into their frontal lobes.  Obama has a history of very bad associations that legitimately call up questions as to his ability to make the sound judgements required of a President of the U.S.A. and (since Pelosi questioned the patriotism of House Republicans this week) these types of associations are in contradiction of true patriotism.

Obama and Democrats Attack the First Amendment

From Powerline:

"If Barack Obama becomes President and takes over command of the Justice Department, it is reasonable to expect an assault on the First Amendment the like of which we haven't seen since the Jefferson administration. Here's the latest: in Missouri, Obama has enlisted his allies in public office, including St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, to threaten criminal prosecution of any Missouri television station that runs ads about Obama that are untrue. Since every politician sincerely believes that all ads run by his opponents are untrue, the field of potential criminal exposure is broad indeed."

Porno is OK for Democrat nominated judges but political speech is to be prosecuted.  What a lovely group of people.

Reid and Dodd Propaganda Conference

I've been watching these two idiots Reid and Dodd spouting stupidity during their press conference and I'm embarassed to say I've been yelling at my television.  Forgive me if it sounds like I'm yelling at you.

Reid says to keep politics out of this and then advances a vile and spurious attack on McCain.  He has zero respect for the intelligence of the American people.  What a jackass.  This is the idiot who throws in the towel on oil drilling and now has inserted into the continuing resolution for govt. financing a new moratorium on oil shale development.

Dodd, the goof who is up to his neck in the Fannie/Fredie debacle, says he will stay as long as possible to get a deal done.  This is the guy whose campaign has received more money buying his vote on the banking committee than anyone in the Senate.  He should be tarred and feathered and ridden out of D.C. on a rail back to Connecticut where he can stay as long as we want him too - permanently.

Republican Bailout Alternative/How the Crisis was Created

From Human Events comes a report on a new proposal by a Republican study group released this afternoon.  It includes:

1. A temporary suspension of capital gains taxes,
2. A transition of Fannie and Freddie to truly private corporations,
3. Stabilization of the dollar, and
4. Suspension of "mark to market" accounting rules for financial firms holding securities collateralized by real estate.

What are the chances of this proposal being adopted?  My guess would be slim to none with the Democrats and rinos viewing the transition to socialism finish line a short distance ahead of them. The nationalization of the financial system is now within their reach and they will not go away quietly.  At least this presents a conservative voice in the ongoing debate and may provide a counterpoint to  the populist nonsense coming from the left.

Democrats including Obama, Dodd, and Clinton opposed regulation that would have prevented the recent financial meltdown.  Ignore their goofy talking points on this issue and pass the word.

Vets For Freedom - Obama Speaks on the Surge + update

This is a list of statements by Barack Obama on the surge in Iraq.  The list was compiled by Vets for Freedom.
http://www.vetsforfreedom.org/  Notice the enthusiastic encouragement, the acknowlegement of success, and the assignment of a job well done given to those putting their lives on the line.

From the Vets for Freedom website:

Senator Obama has repeatedly denied the success of the surge, credited anything but the surge for reductions in violence in Iraq, and attempted to doom it to failure before it was even fully implemented. Senator Obama in his own words:

“The surge is not working,” Obama’s old Iraq plan stated (on website). Daily News, 7/14/08

"We don't need more spin about how the surge is succeeding in doing what it was supposed to do which is to get the Iraqi's to stand up and take responsibility for their own future, so we can start sending our troops home."
Sen. Barack Obama, Remarks At a Town Hall, Rapid City, SD, 5/31/08

"I welcome the genuine reductions of violence that have taken place, although I would point out that much of that violence has been reduced because there was an agreement with tribes in Anbar province --Sunni tribes -- who started to see, after the Democrats were elected in 2006, you know what, the Americans may be leaving soon, and we are going to be left very vulnerable to the Shi'as. We should start negotiating now. That's how you change behavior."
Democratic Debate at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H, 1/5/08

“So, I think it is fair to say that the president has simply tried to gain another six months to continue on the same course that he's been on for several years now. It is a course that will not succeed.”
Huffington Post Mash-Up: 2007 Democratic on-line debate 9/13/07

"I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there.  In fact, I think it will do the reverse."
MSNBC's "Response to the President's Speech On Iraq," 1/10/07

Other quotes:

“So far, I think we have not seen the kind of political reconciliation that’s going to bring about longterm stability in Iraq.”
Obama speaks during a news conference at the citadel in Amman, Jordan, Tuesday, 7/22/08

"But the same factors that led me to oppose the surge still hold true. The strain on our military has grown, the situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated and we've spent nearly $200 billion more in Iraq than we had budgeted. Iraq's leaders have failed to invest tens of billions of dollars in oil revenues in rebuilding their own country, and they have not reached the political accommodation that was the stated purpose of the surge."
Barack Obama, Op-Ed, "My Plan For Iraq," The New York Times, 7/14/08

"Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months."
Obama For America Website, Accessed 7/3/08

"The Problem -- The Surge: The goal of the surge was to create space for Iraq's political leaders to reach an agreement to end Iraq's civil war. At great cost, our troops have helped reduce violence in some areas of Iraq, but even those reductions do not get us below the unsustainable levels of violence of mid-2006.  Moreover, Iraq's political leaders have made no progress in resolving the political differences at the heart of their civil war."
Obama For America Website, Accessed 7/3/08

“The overall strategy is failed because we have not seen any change in behavior among Iraq's political leaders."
2007 Democratic debate in Las Vegas, Nevada 11/15/07

“And it is very important at this stage, understanding how badly the president's strategy has failed.”
2007 Democratic primary debate at Dartmouth College 9/27/07

"My assessment is that the surge has not worked and we will not see a different report eight weeks from now."
NBC's "The Today Show," 7/18/07

"Given the deteriorating situation, it is clear at this point that we cannot, through putting in more troops or maintaining the presence that we have, expect that somehow the situation is going to improve.”
NBC's "Meet the Press," 10/22/06

While on his trip to Iraq, Senator Obama suggested he would shrug off the counsel and advice from commanders on the ground with regards to force levels. In a television interview from the US Embassy, Senator Obama made the following statements:

Barack Obama ABC Nightline Interview, July 21, 2008

ABC's Terry Moran: "And then we sat down with [Barack Obama] to talk about what has become an open disagreement between military commanders here and Obama, over his plan to withdraw all U.S.combat troops from Iraq on a 16-month timetable. Did General Petraeus talk about military concerns about your timetable?"

Barack Obama: "You know, I would characterize the concerns differently. I don't think that they're deep concerns about the notion of a pullout per se. There are deep concerns about, from their perspective, a timetable that doesn't take into account what they anticipate might be some sort of changing conditions. And this is what I mean when I say we play different roles. My job is to think about the national security interests as a whole, and to have to weigh and balance risks, in Afghanistan, in Iraq. Their job is just to get the job done here. And I completely understand that."

Moran: "But the difference is real. Commanders here want withdrawals to be based on conditions on the ground. Obama emphasizes his timetable, but he insists he would remain flexible. I'm going to try to pin you down on this "

Obama: "Here let me say this, though, Terry, because, you know, what I will refuse to do, and I think that, you know…is to get boxed in into what I consider two false choices, which is either I have a rigid timeline of such and such a date, come hell or high water, we've gotten our combat troops out, and I am blind to anything that happens in the intervening six months or 16 months. Or, alternatively, I am completely deferring to whatever the commanders on the ground says, which is what George Bush says he's doing, in which case I'm not doing my job as commander-in-chief.”

Oback and Infanticide

 Barack Obama abortion infanticide

I'm Oback Arama, and this is the last time I will address the issue of abortion and quote, infanticide, unquote, until I address it the next time.   Many are criticizing my 4 votes against providing health care to products of conception accidently born alive during an abortion.  Why people have a love affair with products of conception is beyond my ability to conceive.  Ha!  Ha!  You know, I went back and checked my record on these votes, because I was sure that I must have voted present at least once on this issue, but not so.

Now, we all have heard the old philosophical question, "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"  Well, I ask you a similar philosophical question, "If a breathing product of conception with a heart beat dies in a dirty linen closet, and it doesn't get health care, does that make it a person with rights?"  Due to the fact that this question may be above my pay grade, I must be very careful about my answer.  Firstly, I don't pretend to know for sure if these things are living persons with rights, so the safest way to deal with them is to be as careful as possible to protect the right to choose and just assume that they are not human beings.  Therefore, if it's not human, it's not infanticide.  Secondly, I don't want people to twist my words and spread lies saying that I don't support universal, free, Cuban style health care.  But if you put this pre-viable fetus thing in the closet, and of its own accord it ceases to have a heart beat, and stops breathing, and no one is there to see it, really, who cares?  We must at all costs protect the sacred holy right enshrined in the constitution through the Roe vs. Wade decision.  I'm not one to blow my own horn, but it took a great deal of courage for me to lead my party on this issue by denying health care to the born unborn.  Now, as I feared, politically motivated, petty people are attempting to use this against my humanitarian health care initiatives.  But, I stood up when faced with that dangerous political decision, and hit the no button on four different occasions, and protected the sacred right of every woman and brave abortionist to snuff out, by neglect, accidently born alive, breathing human blobs of tissue with heart beats.

I hope that I have cleared up any doubts about what I believe and what I have courageously done to show my compassionate, sensitive actions on behalf of human rights and I hope my opponents will now stop these empty personal attacks that never fed a hungry child.  We need to get back now to the central issues of this campaign, like change and hope, and change you can use, and change that works for you, and real change, not change of the last eight years.  I hope that my life issues positions will encourage you to support the coming glorious United States of Oback Arama Nation, by voting for me for President, and not for that old Navy flyer guy.

I'm Oback Arama and I approved this message.

Sixty Days and Still No Action

<

Today marks 60 days since President Bush removed the Outer Continental Shelf executive drilling moratorium.  The Democrats in Congress have done absolutely nothing in that time to bring relief to the American people suffering from gas pump sticker shock.  With winter approaching, Americans are going to begin to experience heating oil and natural gas sticker shock and thermostats set below 68 degrees.   Republicans have been trying to force a vote on an "all of the above" energy plan encompassing renewables, nuclear, coal, and the removal of the OCS drilling moratorium.  Democrats are more interested in kneeling before the environmentalist wacko lobby than in taking care of business for the people who elected them.

Pelosi is pushing for a sham bill that will allow drilling only where there is no oil and will set the offshore drilling moratorium in concrete.  She would rather "save the planet" than save her country from an energy disaster.  Harry Reid is more interested in exercising his power to block legislation than in doing his duty for his constituents.  With the congressional moratorium expiring on its own in 18 days, it may be to the advantage of the American people that these two incompetents are running Congress and may never agree on a bill that will pass.  Once the moratorium expires, the Senate Republicans can block any attempt at reinstitution of the moratorium, and leasing can begin in earnest.

The drilling issue and the surge of the McCain/Palin ticket is beginning to erode the job security of the Democrats in Congress according to a Gallup poll released today.   A revolution may be brewing.

Pelosi Drilling Scam

Read the below linked article from the Institute for Energy Research.  The Pelosi "compromise" drilling bill is a sham and a scam.  It allows drilling only where there is little oil.  It institutes a permanent ban on drilling on the OCS out to 50 miles replacing the current annually renewable moratorium.  It continues the ban in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.  It lifts the ban beyond 100 miles.  States may opt-in to drilling between 50-100 miles by enacting state law.

This bill is a pig with no lipstick and must be denounced as such.  GOP Congressmen and Senators must allow the moratorium expire at the end of the month.

Palin Not a Neophyte

The Telegraph.co.uk has a must read artcle by James Bennett today giving the low down on Palin's unique political growth experience in Alaska.  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2008/09/09/do0904.xml&posted=true&_requestid=75665

The Democrats are underestimaiting her and doing so at their own peril.  Her experience in and knowledge of the international oil industry is particularly extensive.  Having run a commercial fishing business with her husband for two decades, she has gained valuable insight into the interaction of business and government.  Her legendary successes in rooting out corruption in Alaskan government has stunned her opponents and gained her an 80% approval rating from her constituents.

James Bennett sums up his article by saying, "Focusing on the exotic trappings of Alaskan culture may make Palin seem a quaint and inexplicable choice. But understanding the real background of her steady rise in politics suggests that Barack Obama and Joe Biden are underestimating her badly. In this, they join two former Alaskan governors, a large number of cronies, and a trail of enemies extending back over a decade."

Also read from the Wall Street Journal this editorial:    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122100776282517559.html
that argues that Alaska gives its governor more power to govern than 45 other states including "budgetary and appointment authority, veto power and other factors."

Obama Cannot Define Victory

Is this statement even remotely plausible?  The candidate who wants a 16 month withdrawal time table regardless of the circumstances on the ground accuses the other candidate of attempting to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

The question from Stefanopoulous is simple.  Define victory.  I believe that he could define victory with respect to his campaign but it again seems that victory for his country is not definable.
