AARP Receives Copious Dissent on Health Care from Its Members

Today I received a letter from AARP looking for a new member.  I typed up the letter below and put it into the post-paid envelope.  It will go out tomorrow at their expense.  I recommend this to you if you receive a missive from them.  If you don't want to write a letter, just send back an empty envelope or cut their letter in two and return it.  That should increase their expenses at no cost to you.

August 26, 2009

Dear AARP:

I will not join your organization because of your support of the Obama health care plan. I know that you claim to not be in support of any particular legislation, but your actions speak louder than your words. You have become a pawn of the Democrat Party instead of a voice for your members.

I recently attended a town hall meeting here in St. Louis with Representative Russ Carnahan. The subject of the meeting was senior services and aging. The first speaker, who was a local leader of AARP, gave an in-your-face diatribe in favor of Obama health care reform. It was not only off the subject of the meeting, it was a provocative presentation that incited the crowd to jeer and cheer and disrupt the gathering. This type of representation by your employees gives credence to the fact that your organization is not impartial in this debate. You are, in fact, hip deep in the court of the Democrat Party and a partner in the attempt to foist politician-run health care on the American people. You should be ashamed of your constant regurgitation of the talking points of the Democrats. Supporting a plan that will cut $500 billion from Medicare over the next decade is a despicable thing for an organization that claims to be an advocate for senior citizens.

Take me off of your mailing list NOW.

Sincerely,

If you go to the AARP site and browse around their comments to articles and videos, you will find that the natives are restless with respect to health care.  The letters chastising the organization include about 90% of those submitted. Many folks are asking to be removed from the membership list.  Here's a link to one comment string with large numbers of members dumping on the AARP CEO, Barry Rand:

Here are a couple of typical member letters from the AARP site related to health care:

"CapeCodger says:

Where is the map that shows AARP members who are against this administration's assault on our health care rights? We don't want big government telling us what we can and can't do with regard to health care. The elite are attempting to strengthen their power base yet again by stripping individual choice. There are 1.267 million AARP sheep signing on to authorize the government to tinker with our health care rights. Wise up AARP members!!!

Consider these government initiatives and project out a few short years:

Soc Security = bankrupt
Medicare = bankrupt
Amtrak = bankrupt
Post Office = bankrupt
Freddie Mac = bankrupt
Fannie Mae = bankrupt
Blue States = bankrupt
Hospitals = bankrupt
Auto industry = bankrupt
Banks = bankrupt
US Gov’t debt = almost bankrupt

National health care = ???

Is there a trend here?

Sincerely,"

"babyjag says:
The reality of implementing a national health care plan is a disaster waiting to happen. Just think about the magnitude of government employees, subcontractors, systems, facilities and affiliated services required to run and coordinate such an operation. It would take years to design and implement this huge boondoggle, wasting trillions of taxpayer dollars before the program even gets launched. If the UK employs over 1 million people to manage their system, just imagine what it would take here in the U.S. And you can be sure that those millions of government workers would be exempt from the peon plan - they would be entitled to the same gold-plated private-insurer plans now in effect for all government workers and congress. Just think about the screw ups you have now with bureaucracies, the DMV, insurance billing, credit card billing, stolen I.D.s, stolen government computers, etc. This proposed health care reform plan is and will be a nightmare staight from hell."

Obama Gang is Money Laundering the TARP and TALF Programs

Now that the Obama brigade has stopped hyperventilating in mock rage at the AIG bonus babies, they are changing course in their approach to compensation of lead executives at financial institutions. Many TARP recipients are planning to return what they owe to the Treasury as quickly as possible and others are intent on avoiding taking TARP money to avoid the legislative restrictions on pay and to avoid the requirement allowing the government to purchase ownership stakes in their companies. The Pelosi/Reid Democrats in Congress put flesh on their mock rage by passing legislation restricting compensation of executives at firms who have received TARP money.  Now Obama needs cooperation from these very institutions to successfully implement the new and improved toxic debt relief program of Treasury Secretary Geithner.  TheWashington Post reports today that many financial institutions will not participate in toxic debt relief if current restrictions apply to them. From The Washington Post:

"Some private investors said, for instance, that they would not help the government buy toxic assets from banks if the congressional restrictions were applied to them. And every major provider of small-business loans has said that it will not participate in the government's program if it has to surrender ownership stakes to the government or submit to executive-pay limits."

The Obama gang has found a clever way to avoid the new compensation law passed by Congress and signed by the President. They've created "middleman" entities to launder the money passed out by the TARP and TALF programs.  The money comes from the Treasury to the middle man entity and then on to the institution receiving the aid.  By this clever process, the institution doesn't receive the aid directly from the Treasury and the compensation and ownership provisions of the law are avoided.  Congress, so far, is feigning ignorance but this type of evasion may not be legal.  The Washington Post reports:

"They are basically trying to launder the money to avoid complying with the plain language of the law," said David Zaring, a former Justice Department attorney who defended the government from lawsuits involving related legal issues. "They are trying to create a loophole to ignore Congress, and I think the courts will think that it's ridiculous."

I don't have to wonder what the reaction of Congress would be to this type of evasion if "W" were still President.  No doubt it would be screaming and shouting and running abouting and high crimes and misdemeanors forever and ever from Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Dodd, Frank, and the usual suspects.

The Obama administration and their leader, Barack Obama are again displaying their arrogance and hypocricy in spades.  I say go after them on this nonsense without delay.

Toxic Debt and Protecting Our Tax Money

Obama's Toxic Debt Program

The toxic debt problem is a difficult situation made more difficult than it needs to be by the refusal to allow these companies to go into receivership or a chapter 11 pre-packaged bankruptcy. The failure to reform the onerous mark-to-market rules and/or to establish a new ratings system specifically for loans collateralized by real estate has exacerbated the problem exponentially. This new program is an interesting attempt but probably another swing and a miss for the Obama Treasury department. The FDIC guarantees are a major problem, and it seems odd that they will be directly guaranteeing debt in a way similar to that of the FHA. It’s called the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, not the Federal Debt Insurance Corporation. But hey, I'm just a regular citizen.  What do I know?  The stockholders and bondholders of troubled financial and other companies need to take a haircut through prepackaged bankruptcies. That includes the auto companies. When investors bought the equity and the debt, they knew there was a risk and bought it anyway. Now this new giveaway by the executive branch transfers the risk from these troubled companies to the citizens of this country and gives the purchasers of toxic assets a non-recourse loan to purchase those assets. The additional contingent liability will be enormous, but I guess the Fed can just print up, or electronically create more trillions of dollars out of nothing to cover their guarantees.

So what is the "bailout total" up to now? Bloomberg has published a chart that shows how much and to whom.  The grand total (and climbing) is now $11,623,630,000,000.00.  This doesn't include the stingy Obama budget projections that will run trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see.  Link to Bloomberg:   http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aZchK__XUF84

And that's not an April fools joke.

Congress and Obama are Protecting Taxpayer's Money?

You have to laugh out loud when you see our stellar congressional leadership claiming that they are saving taxpayer's money or protecting taxpayer’s money, as if they really care. First, the majority of the money they’re spending this year isn't taxpayer money. It's money borrowed on the credit account of citizens of this country. It's also money borrowed from the Social Security "Trust Fund" and the Medicare fund. The money being printed and electronically created by the Federal Reserve for bailout programs is not taxpayer money. It’s just more money created out of nothing against the value of the money held by U.S. citizens in their pockets or savings. Creation of money in this way debases the value of every dollar you have or will earn for the rest of your life.  It also debases the money your kids will earn and their kids will earn assuming there are any jobs for them.  I guess there should be some jobs shinning shoes for the Chinese folks who will own most everything in this country, if things keep going in the direction our leader is taking us.

It’s also a joke when the Democrats claim that they are protecting the taxes of their constituents. A large percentage of their constituents don’t pay any taxes at all. I guess if Obama is going to redistribute tax money from taxpayers to non-taxpayers, you could call it the non-taxpayers’ money but when can you correctly call it that? Would it be at the moment when the government sucks the taxes out of your paycheck each month, or is it during the micro-second that it sits in the U.S. Treasury? Perhaps it’s when the check is printed to the order of the non-taxpayer or maybe it’s when that non-taxpayer cashes the check.  So maybe Congressional leaders are protecting our non-taxpayer and taxpayer taxes.  Thank goodness for that.  Without their protection, we might get into serious economic trouble.  Rest easy and sleep tight.  Your future is in good hands.

Obama "Amends" Report on $800,000 ACORN payment - Deception? YES!--UPDATE - Gaffe Biden also Denies ACORN connection.

After multiple public denials by Barack Obama and an explicit denial in the 3rd debate about the extent of his association with ACORN, the Democrat candidate attempts to come clean while no one is paying attention.

The Pittsburg Tribune-Review reports, "U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) for services the Democrat's campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal reports.

An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in "get-out-the-vote" projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary."

the linik to the article:   http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/election/s_584284.html

Here is a video of the 3rd debate at the time when the subject of ACORN was raised.

Please note the shaking of the head by Obama denying a relationship with ACORN, and the smarmy smiles he exhibits while McCain speaks.. At one point Obama laughs out loud as if to say that what McCain is saying is ridiculous. In reality, we now know that in front of 10's of millions of voters, Obama is the one making the deceptive statements, and not telling the truth.  Obama says on his involvement with ACORN: "The only involvement I've had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMV's."  Obama purposely omits the above $800,000.00 given to ACORN by his campaign making his debate statement objectively false.  He purposely omits the $230.000.00 given to ACORN by the Woods Foundation when he sat on the board of that foundation with terrorist William Ayers.  That makes his debate statement objectively false.  He purposely omits the training he himself supplied to ACORN workers in the past.  That also makes his debate statement objectively false.

Now, metaphorically, in the dark of night, in the 11th hour of the campaign, when the 10's of millions of people he fraudulently deceived are not looking, he admits the fraud, and lying, by quietly amending his campaign spending report. I particularly love the talking point the Obama campaign has ready (McCain returned some money to some contributor) and the media will happily barf up this obvious misdirection to the public.

Update:  Joe Biden also denies the ACORN connection confirmed by the amendment to Obama's campaign finance report.  See the video:

Bill Ayres, Weather Underground, Communism, Revolution, and Re-Education

An expose on the book Prarie Fire authored by Bill Ayres, Bernardine Dohrn and two others is now posted on Zombietime blog at:
http://www.zombietime.com/prairie_fire/  A quick read of the blog entry is worthwhile.

"Bill Ayres is just a respected professor of education."  How many times have you heard that?  Below is a list of activities of the Weather Underground from May 1970 through May of 1971.  A more comprehensive list can be found on Wikipedia at :
May 10, 1970 – The National Guard Association building in Washington, D.C. is bombed.[citation needed]
  • May 21, 1970 – The WUO releases its "Declaration of a State of War" communique under Bernardine Dohrn's name.
  • June 9, 1970 - The New York City Police headquarters is bombed by Jane Alpert and accomplices. The Weathermen state this is in response to "police repression."[citation needed]
  • July 23, 1970 – A federal grand jury in Detroit, Michigan, returns indictments against a number of underground WUO members and former WUO members charging violations of various explosives and firearms laws. (These indictments were later dropped in October, 1973.)
  • October 10, 1970 - A Queens traffic-court building is bombed. WUO claims this is to express support for the New York prison riots. [NYT, 10/10/70, p. 12]
  • October 15, 1971 - The bombing of William Bundy's office in the MIT research center. [NYT, 10/16/71]
  • May 19, 1972 - Bombing of The Pentagon, "in retaliation for the U.S. bombing raid in Hanoi." [NYT, 5/19/72]
  • May 18, 1973 - The bombing of the 103rd Police Precinct in New York. WUO states this is in response to the killing of 10-year-old black youth Clifford Glover by police.
The You Tube video below is part of an interview with a law enforcement infiltrator of The Weather Underground.  Note what he says about what would be done to U.S. citizens who were incapable of being re-educated after the overthrow of the U.S. government.

It's interesting that comments are disabled on the You Tube site for this video.  I'm not sure why but maybe you could hazard a guess.  Comments on this blog are turned on.

Oback Arama - Vote Early and Often

I'm Oback Arama and I'm running for President.  When you go to the polls. remember to vote early and vote often, expecially in Ohio and Florida.  As you pull the lever for me, remember that I am the candidate of hope and change, and change that works for you, and change that you can use, and real change not like the last eight years.  Also remember that I will send you a check from the U.S. government of Oback Arama even if you don't work.  And if you need an abortion, I will pay for it personally with other peoples' money so that you don't have to be punished with a baby.

I will do all of these things and I will, in addition, be holding a drawing of all ballots cast for me for several prizes.  First prize will be a ride on the Oback Air Force One flying fortress, second prize will be a ride in my bullet proof Oback mobile presidential limosine, and third prize will be an autographed picture of future pardonee Tony Rezko, without whose "quiet" help, I might be heading for the Big House, instead of the White House.  Remember that your right to vote is a precious gift from past patriots of this country, and your right to vote a second time, third time, fourth time and fifth or more time is a precious gift from ACORN due to the generous donation of 800,000 greenbacks that I, Oback Arama provided to that wonderful non-partisan, non-profit group.

So feel the love, and vote for the Oback Arama Nation of United States.  It will be a glorious journey of four years of social progress and I want you on board the hope and change express.  Can we do it?

Yes we can!  Yes we can!  Yes we can!

Oback and Infanticide

 Barack Obama abortion infanticide

I'm Oback Arama, and this is the last time I will address the issue of abortion and quote, infanticide, unquote, until I address it the next time.   Many are criticizing my 4 votes against providing health care to products of conception accidently born alive during an abortion.  Why people have a love affair with products of conception is beyond my ability to conceive.  Ha!  Ha!  You know, I went back and checked my record on these votes, because I was sure that I must have voted present at least once on this issue, but not so.

Now, we all have heard the old philosophical question, "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"  Well, I ask you a similar philosophical question, "If a breathing product of conception with a heart beat dies in a dirty linen closet, and it doesn't get health care, does that make it a person with rights?"  Due to the fact that this question may be above my pay grade, I must be very careful about my answer.  Firstly, I don't pretend to know for sure if these things are living persons with rights, so the safest way to deal with them is to be as careful as possible to protect the right to choose and just assume that they are not human beings.  Therefore, if it's not human, it's not infanticide.  Secondly, I don't want people to twist my words and spread lies saying that I don't support universal, free, Cuban style health care.  But if you put this pre-viable fetus thing in the closet, and of its own accord it ceases to have a heart beat, and stops breathing, and no one is there to see it, really, who cares?  We must at all costs protect the sacred holy right enshrined in the constitution through the Roe vs. Wade decision.  I'm not one to blow my own horn, but it took a great deal of courage for me to lead my party on this issue by denying health care to the born unborn.  Now, as I feared, politically motivated, petty people are attempting to use this against my humanitarian health care initiatives.  But, I stood up when faced with that dangerous political decision, and hit the no button on four different occasions, and protected the sacred right of every woman and brave abortionist to snuff out, by neglect, accidently born alive, breathing human blobs of tissue with heart beats.

I hope that I have cleared up any doubts about what I believe and what I have courageously done to show my compassionate, sensitive actions on behalf of human rights and I hope my opponents will now stop these empty personal attacks that never fed a hungry child.  We need to get back now to the central issues of this campaign, like change and hope, and change you can use, and change that works for you, and real change, not change of the last eight years.  I hope that my life issues positions will encourage you to support the coming glorious United States of Oback Arama Nation, by voting for me for President, and not for that old Navy flyer guy.

I'm Oback Arama and I approved this message.

Obama Cannot Define Victory

Is this statement even remotely plausible?  The candidate who wants a 16 month withdrawal time table regardless of the circumstances on the ground accuses the other candidate of attempting to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

The question from Stefanopoulous is simple.  Define victory.  I believe that he could define victory with respect to his campaign but it again seems that victory for his country is not definable.

Nothing Comes From Nothing

Charles Krauthammer says in a column today that McCain has forfeited the experience weapon against Obama by choosing Sarah Palin.

I disagree.  The selection of Palin does not negate the inexperience issue for Obama. In fact, his executive inexperience is brought into focus and accentuated by her superior executive experience. McCain has cleverly opened a two front war on Obama/Biden. Obama cannot defend his executive inexperience, only rationalize it. It will not go away and will continue to dog him. Now he must defend his empty "change and hope" position at the same time. I say empty because he has no concrete "change" record to substantiate his rhetoric. He will be on the defensive from now to November with no weapon but his empty platitudes.  As Maria sang in The Sound of Music, "Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could", and that is all that Obama has to offer with his vacuous legislative, and executive record.

McCain's surrogates including Giuliani, Thompson, Huckabee, Romney, and Palin must pound hard on both fronts over the next 60 days and keep Obama/Biden stuttering in defense.

Bubble Trouble?

We’ve all heard about the famous tulip bubble back in the 1600’s and of course the Tech bubble at the beginning of this century. Most recently we’ve experienced the housing bubble. What they have in common is that each bubble resulted in the economic crash of its over inflated market. Back in January, 2001, AOL bought and merged with Time Warner. After the merger, shareholders in AOL received more shares in the new company than the shareholders in Time Warner recieved. AOL had made a timely trade of their stock at a point close to the top of the tech bubble. Two years later AOL Time Warner took a 99 billion dollar write off due to the devaluation of the assets that AOL had brought to the merger. The CEO of AOL, Steve Case, had, in retrospect, pulled off the first big deal (steal?) of the 21st century by trading over inflated AOL stock for the truly valuable stock of Time Warner.

The bubble I’m thinking about today isn’t economic, but it has things in common with an economic bubble. It’s a “commodity” that has a word of mouth buzz about it. Its market value has been bid up far beyond its underlying value. The underlying fundamentals of the “commodity” are characterized by a lot of hot air and not much foundation, and the “commodity” hasn’t been around for very long. Although stock of the commodity has a low intrinsic value, an army of salesmen is attempting to convert this overinflated stock into a much more valuable position. It is reminiscent of the AOL –Time Warner merger.  The “commodity”, of course, is the expected Democrat nominee, and the valuable position is the presidency.

I’ve heard economists declare that all bubbles eventually burst and that over inflated stocks always come down in price. The big question is how long can the main stream media and the Democrat hot air machine keep the Obama bubble inflated? This is probably just wishful thinking, and I don’t have much of anything to base it on, but the Obama bubble could be about to burst. After all of the favorable press from the fawning media and the over-hyped Obama international tour, Obama has received a bump in the polls. If the bump fades in the coming week, it may mean that Obama fatigue is setting in with the public. Time will tell, but we can have hope that things will change and that the Obama bubble will deflate by November. Now that’s the kind of hope and change that works for me.

Oback and Stopped Clocks

Would someone please enlighten me as to how anyone can declare Obama correct about Iraq without laughing out loud? Here is a guy who introduced legislation back on January 30, 2007 that would have withdrawn all combat troops from Iraq to be completed by March 31, 2008. That computes out to 16 months. He has, to the best of my knowledge, not wavered from that number since. So, from where did this military genius pluck the number 16, and why, with all that has happened since January 30, 2007, has the number not been adjusted?

A stopped clock reads the correct time twice a day. The alleged  agreement of Prime Minister Al Malaki to the 16 month withdrawal number is no more than a stopped clock coincidence. Six months ago when Oback was declaring a 16 month withdrawal, was he correct? NO. Was he correct 5 months ago, or 3 months ago, or 8 months ago or 4 months, 5 days, 13 minutes and 12 seconds ago? NO. Please deliver me from these pompous goofy liberal pundits who say that McCain, Malaki, and others are following Obama’s lead and endorsing his withdrawal timetable. The clock has been running ever since he introduced his irresponsible piece of legislation back in 2007, and he has been consistently wrong every moment since then, including right now. The time for withdrawal will come when the conditions on the ground and the political situation in Iraq dictate withdrawal, not when an inexperienced community organizer from south Chicago plucks a number from a place where the sun don’t shine.

Oback and Posturing

There's a big drive, no doubt from Obama operatives and media dupes, to attempt to validate Oback's goofy shifting positions on Iraq.  The thrust of this disinformation campaign is following one of these lines: Maliki endorsment of Obama plans, or Bush and McCain using Obama withdrawal plans, or plans being negotiated between Iraq and US mirror Obama plans.  It's a full court press attempt but a simple review of Oback actions and statements on Iraq shows that he has never had the ball and doesn't know where the basket is located.

History shows that the dems in general and Oback in particular supported an immediate surrender in Iraq back in 2007 with total withdrawal by March of 2008. His continuing shifts on Iraq surrender are weak pathetic political posturing. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/30/AR2007013001586.html?nav=emailpage Quote from Wash Post article: "Obama's legislation, offered on the Senate floor last night, would remove all combat brigades from Iraq by March 31, 2008."

This weasel will change his position as quickly as the tides change in the Chesapeake Bay.  What would this proposed withdrawal have meant in an historical sense? No surge, no success, retreat, surrender, humiliation, Al Qaida with a permanent effective foothold in Iraq, and a concentration of jihadis in Afghanistan attempting to drive NATO out, in other words a devastating setback in the War on Terror.

Would this defeat have mattered to Oback? Certainly not.  His goal is political power and he'll do what ever is necessary to obscure his true socialist agenda in order to attain the goal. Obama would be no better than Dennis Kuscinich or Barney Frank as commander-in-Chief.
