- when speaking of energy always refer to the “John McCain all-of-the above energy development program.”
Background
What have the Democrats done to promote more oil and cheaper gas? Blocked drilling on the OCS. Blocked drilling in ANWR. Blocked development of oil shale. Promoted windfall profits on our private oil companies so they cannot compete with huge foreign state owned oil companies. They are actively destroying attempts to produce more supply through their policies and programs. Result: Everything costs more due to the centrality of oil to our economy. Gasoline and diesel cost $3.50 or more at the pump. Industries dependent on high energy consumption like the travel, trucking, air lines, and heavy manufacturing are seeing permanent destruction to their businesses. Small businesses and large companies are forced to lay off employees because of to a reduction of revenue and an increase in expenses due to escalating energy costs.
What about Republicans?
McCain: Pushed for drilling on the OCS. Supports an all of the above energy program: Pushed for oil shale development. Supports building multiple nuclear power plants. Supports hybrid vehicles. Supports coal-to-liquid technology. Supports clean coal power plants. Supports compressed clean natural gas for transportation. Supports solar and wind energy development. Everything will cost less with the programs promoted by the McCain plan.
Palin: Coordinated and managed the approval of the contract to build a $40 billion natural gas pipeline to bring trillions of cubic feet of gas through Canada to the lower 48 states. Got more oil flowing from the Alaskan North Slope by breaking up the monopoly of private oil companies in her position as Governor. Supports drilling in ANWR. Fully supports the “John McCain all-of-the above energy development program.” Result: Everything will cost less including gasoline and heating oil.
