Here's a blog by Steve McIntyre, a statistician, who along with Ross McKitrick, a climate scientist exposed the fallacious hockey stick. It gets pretty technical for me, but you can see from what you read that a lot of the science of global warming is protected from proper peer review by the improper archiving of data and research techniques and in some cases an outright blockade of requests for data. I know that the FDA requires study after study of new drugs to, at least theoretically, protect the population from fraud. If scientists refuse to submit their work to proper outside review, what does that say about their research?

At a minimum, read the first article to get a feel for the way the GW types cook the data. Garbage in = garbage out but in this case the software program was also cooked.
