GOP Blockade Update

It's been 13 days since President Bush vacated the executive order on offshore drilling and the Democrats in Congress have done nothing to remove the Congressional ban. Until the no-drill Democrats allow a vote on lifting the congressional moratorium, Senate Republicans have pledged to block all Senate legislation. According to "The Hill", GOP senators now plan to force the Senate to stay in session beyond the scheduled August recess date, unless the Senator Pinky Reid Democrats answer the cries for economic relief from the American people. The Democrats continue to spout the usual talking points about how drilling can't get us out of this problem. Republicans are correctly presenting drilling as a vital part of a comprehensive approach that the Democrats continue to block.

Democrats claim to be the champions of those in economic hardship, but those claims are found wanting when their only answers are empty rhetoric and hot air political attacks. Today is one day closer to the day when an American citizen will be unable to pay his heating oil bill in the northeastern US this winter because of Democrat obstinance. It is one day closer to when an American in Dallas, Texas will be laid off from his airline industry job due to high jet fuel prices. It is one day closer to to the day when a laborer in Florida will be unable to commute to his job because he can't afford to pay for the gasoline to fuel his automobile. Americans want to know how many more days will it take to get Pelosi and Reid to follow the lead of President Bush. How many days will it be until they remove the foolish and destructive policies that are exporting 700 billion dollars of our treasury abroad each year. The time to act is now, today. If the irresponsible congressional Democrats fail to act, then tomorrow will be one day closer to the November election, and the day that we must change their addresses from Washington, D.C. back to their home states for good.
