We hear a lot from Boone Pickens about wind power these days. In fact, it would seem that his ubiquitous ads may help give a huge boost to radio and print advertising revenue this quarter. I don't know how effective these huge wind mill contraptions are in reducing emissions but I ran across an article on the John Locke Foundation web site that you might check out. It says that the net reduction in emissions is negligible and that the wind mills are environmentally objectionable.
Here are a couple of quotes:
The National Academy of Sciences has reported that wind power would not significantly reduce emissions of nitrogen oxide or sulfur dioxide.
Wind power would have no effect on energy independence.
Wind power plants have proven to be exceedingly deadly to wildlife
